Camille Stinton’s career in publishing began in the 1980’s as sales and marketing representative for News America Corp, where she was responsible for distribution and marketing placement of magazines in the Ohio and Michigan markets, including the launch of the U.S. version of Elle. She moved to Marketing Manager of the Boston Herald when Rupert Murdoch acquired that property.
An opportunity to become Circulation Regional Manager brought her to Connecticut’s premiere newspaper, The Hartford Courant in 1987. She left in 1995 as Circulation Marketing Manager. The Orlando Sentinel’s sponsorship program needed a jumpstart which led Camille to Florida in 1996 where she increased sales significantly through a focus on retail and implementation of non-traditional marketing methods.
In 1998, Camille started her own consulting business, serving for six years as an independent evaluator for newspaper circulation operations throughout country. In 2004, she accepted the position of Publisher for The Register Citizen (Torrington, Conn.) and its affiliated publications, an opportunity to return to The Hartford Courant (now part of Tribune Company). In May 2005, Camille returned to the role of Circulation management, using her ability to develop multi-media campaigns, launch product enhancements and set strategic pricing to give a significant boost to the Courant’s circulation revenue.
In early 2008 she was asked to manage sales and operations for two significant Advertising business units within Tribune Company: ValuMail, and Direct Response. Today Camille oversees the Majors, National, Entertainment, and Shared Mail division of The Hartford Courant.
